CFWP Pamphlet: Real Costs of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars

Download:

  • If you have a really good printer and a good knowledge about computer, download costofwar.pdf and follow the printing instruction to get proper margins for folding.

  • Otherwise, just download and print costofwar-widemargin.pdf. It will have enough margins for folding (but smaller fonts).

How to Put Your Organization's Name/Info on the Pamphlet:

  • You need to install OpenOffice.org to modify the original file.

  • Download and unzip costofwar.odt or costofwar-widemargin.odt (see above printing options) and edit it.

  • You may put your organizations name on the front section, or replace “What are the real costs of the wars?” section (center column of page 2). You can also modify the “NUMBERS” section (for example, the last two numbers) to add your local information instead of Los Angeles. Go to www.nationalpriorities.org to calculate numbers on your local cities.

  • COPYLEFT: Any progressive organization can freely copy, modify (adding/replacing facts and adding local contact information) and distribute this pamphlet as long as the modified version contains a reference to the original CFWP pamphlet.

How to print with correct margins(Windows XP):

  1. Download and open costofwar.pdf.

  2. Click "print"

  3. On the bottom side, in the "Page Handling" section:
    a) Set "Page Scaling" to "None"
    b) Uncheck "Auto-Rotate and Center"

  4. On the top side, in the "Printer" section:
    a) Click "Properties"
    b) the menus here will be vary printers by printers but what you need is to make the "Paper Orientation" "Landscape"
    c) Click "OK"

  5. Make sure that the "Preview" looks reasonable.

  6. Click "OK" to print.
